The start of the year is always a busy time for American football fans. As well as the end of the NFL season and the approaching Super Bowl, we also get plenty of news about what the next year of competition in the Polish Football League will look like. We have put together a complete guide to the Warsaw Eagles' 2025 season. Save the dates, plan your weekends and get ready for plenty of sporting drama!
Polish Football League
The 2025 season will bring a major revolution to domestic competition. The decision has been made to drop the previous format of three main divisions (PFL1, PFL2, PFL9) in favour of a single, unified eleven-a-side league called the Polish Football League.
This is a big change that will certainly force every team to reorganise its structures and change the way it prepares, but the end result is meant to be a more interesting, more intense season, with a greater number of varied games and greater marketing potential. All the key aspects of the new format are set out in the graphic prepared by the Polish Football League.
The league will feature 15 teams in total, split into two groups
North group:
- AZS UWM Olsztyn Lakers
- Białe Lwy Gdańsk
- Dukes Ząbki
- Lowlanders Białystok
- Tytani Lublin
- Warsaw Eagles
- Warsaw Mets
- Wilki Łódzkie
South group:
- Armia Poznań
- Jaguars Kąty Wrocławskie
- Kraków Kings
- Panthers Wrocław
- Silesia Rebels Katowice
- Tychy Falcons
- Wataha Zielona Góra
In the regular season each team will play 7 games against teams from its own group and one game against a team from the other group, matched on the basis of ranking, location and travel time. For the South group teams, the seventh game will additionally be a return fixture against a team from their own group. The exception is Armia Poznań, who, instead of a return game in the South group, will play an additional cross-group game against a team from the North.
The Warsaw Eagles will open their season on 23 March with a home game against Dukes Ząbki. You can see the Eagles' full Polish Football League schedule in the graphic below.
The full schedule, with dates and venues, is also available on our website under Competitions > Polish Football League (opens in a new tab).

CEFL (Central European Football League)
As 2024 Polish champions, the Warsaw Eagles have been invited to take part in the international Central European Football League (CEFL). The first CEFL season kicked off in 2006, and since then the competition has brought together leading teams from Central, Eastern and Northern Europe.
In 2025 the CEFL will feature 12 teams from across Europe:
- Calanda Broncos
- Thonon Black Panthers
- Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns
- Carlstad Crusaders
- Stockholm Mean Machines
- Belgrade Vukovi
- Amsterdam Crusaders
- Badalona Dracs
- Kragujevac Wild Boars
- Bristol Aztecs
- Warsaw Eagles
- Eidsvoll 1814’s
The CEFL uses a modified single-elimination format.
Ranking: The three highest-ranked teams will be seeded and go straight through to the second round. The Badalona Dracs will also start in the second round, for the following reasons:
(1) This year geography played a bigger part in the fixtures than usual.
(2) The Badalona Dracs are the furthest away from most of the other invited teams, and their domestic playoffs take place in April.
(3) The Swedish teams had to be kept apart in the first two rounds, as they needed different opponents.
(4) These fixtures will keep the teams' costs as low as possible.
First round
8 teams will be paired off in 4 single-elimination games. The higher-ranked teams will host.
Carlstad Crusaders – Eidsvoll 1814’s
Stockholm Mean Machines – Warsaw Eagles
Belgrade Vukovi – Kragujevac Wild Boars
Amsterdam Crusaders – Bristol Aztecs
Second round
If the Warsaw Eagles beat the Swedish side, they will advance to the second round of the CEFL. The second-round pairings are as follows:
Calanda Broncos – Belgrade Vukovi / Kragujevac Wild Boars
Thonon Black Panthers – Badalona Dracs
Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns – Stockholm Mean Machines / Warsaw Eagles
Carlstad Crusaders / Eidsvoll 1814’s – Amsterdam Crusaders / Bristol Aztecs
The CEFL second-round games are scheduled for 10 May.
