The "Tony for the future stars" football scholarship programme
Life writes all kinds of stories. We often experience beautiful, thrilling moments, but sometimes we have to face extremely difficult ones. The loss of Antoni Wróbel has affected not only our team, but the entire football community. Our community has lost a player who could one day have become an icon of the sport in this country. In memory of "Tony" we are launching the "Tony for the future stars" football scholarship.

Antoni Wróbel first came into contact with American football in 2014, in the United States. That is where he started training. He joined the Warsaw Eagles for the 2018 season, and the very next year he got the chance to play in junior friendlies against Bydgoszcz Archers, Kraków Kings and Hammerers Kyiv. From 2020 to 2023 he represented the Eagles in junior league competition, where he dazzled with his talent and earned his debut for the senior team. He made his senior debut in 2023, playing two full games. In 2024 he regularly came in for Jake Schimenz and created plays that football fans in Poland still talk about today. After our championship season he left to play for the Wildcats at Culver-Stockton College (NCAA Div. II).
How will the "Tony for the future stars" scholarship work?
*The scholarship project is meant to help young players pursue their sporting dreams, just as Antek Wróbel did. I would like this programme to keep Antek's memory alive among us. In the future we would like the "Tony for the future stars" scholarship programme to cover not only our team, but the whole young American football community in Poland. We don't want to limit ourselves to players from our own club. Every young player who shows outstanding talent, an exemplary sporting attitude and the potential to become one of the leading players in the country will be able to join the programme.– explains Osman Sulkiewicz, General Manager of the Warsaw Eagles.
My son was one of you. He loved football, he loved being part of a team he trained and played with so intensely. He gave everything on and off the field – constantly watching film, reading professional analysis and always learning new strategies and tactics. He shared his fascination with football, and everything he knew about it, with his teammates.
*Antek, a tall, slim lad with a sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face.
Tony in a navy helmet and*a red QB practice jersey, "calling" the plays. That is why I would like him to remain one of you, and for the scholarship bearing his name to support the development of talented players – the stars of the future. – Ewa Wróbel, Antoni's mother.
Who will the programme cover in its first season?
Filip Stefanowski
A Warsaw Eagles junior and the most productive junior player of the 2023 season, who stormed into the starting line-up in 2024 and scored some spectacular touchdowns (including the Eagles' opening points in Polish Bowl XIX). In the 2024 season he scored 4 touchdowns in total and racked up almost 200 receiving yards.
Jan Gromek
A Warsaw Eagles junior who made his debut in Week 1 of the 2024 season in the game against Kraków Kings. A hard-working player who is making huge progress on the defensive line, as his impressive stats show. In the 2024 season Jan recorded 12 tackles, 1 tackle for loss and one sack on the opposing quarterback.
Jakub Borkowski
A Warsaw Eagles junior. He played MLB and was often used at FB and RB. A player from Płock who spent 4 seasons in junior competition. He will make his senior debut in the 2025 season.
The scholarship will support players for a full calendar year. We believe the programme will grow enough for us to increase the number of players in future seasons.
As well as introducing the "Tony for the future stars" sports scholarship, the Warsaw Eagles will play with a special sticker commemorating Antek. The number 8 jersey that Antek wore in our championship season is being retired.
