WE Juniors Report – Halfway through the regular season. Home clash with Armia on Sunday

Our U19 team returns to action after a week off. Behind us are two extremely tough games against the Mets and the Rhinos. Despite the defeats, we took as much valuable experience as possible from each game. The bye week gave us time to rest and analyse the mistakes we've made so far. This Sunday we play our third game of the season – this time at home against Armia from Poznań.

Rhinos unstoppable

Just under two weeks ago we played away at Rhinos Wyszków – a team that finished among the TOP4 junior sides in the country in 2024. The Rhinos clearly dominated from the very start. They capitalised on our mistakes and controlled the game from start to finish, eventually winning 60:0. Despite the lopsided score, we never gave up and competed on the field with our heads held high to the very end. The Rhinos also showed us a great deal of respect for playing to the final whistle, and they deserve a big round of applause for that. For us, this game is another lesson we have to learn from.

A chance for the first points

This Sunday we face Armia Poznań at the Strefa Sportu ground. The club's junior side has been a regular in junior competition for several years. Historically, Poznań has plenty of junior success to its name – just look at the achievements of the youth teams of the now-defunct Kozły.

Armia have played two games so far this season. First, they travelled to face Warsaw Mets. The red-and-yellows brought their ambitions crashing back down to earth in brutal fashion, winning 84:0. Two weeks later they hosted Lowlanders Białystok. Things went somewhat better there. The Wielkopolska side managed to get on the scoreboard, though it was the Lowlanders who came out on top, winning 46:12.

As for head-to-head meetings between Eagles and Armia, the matchup has been recorded just once. A junior game between the two sides was due to take place on 9 October 2021, but for formal reasons it ended in a 20:0 walkover in Eagles' favour.

League situation and upcoming games

At the moment every team in the North group has played two games. Warsaw Mets lead the way, dominating the group with a perfect record and just six points conceded. Right behind them are the Rhinos – our most recent opponents – who also have the full four league points. Still in the hunt for a semi-final spot are the Lowlanders, currently 1-1. Eagles and Armia occupy the bottom two places, and for one of them Sunday's game will be a chance to claim their first win of the season.
