Preview: Warsaw Eagles vs Białe Lwy Gdańsk

The season is picking up pace! Time for our second game of this year's Polish Football League campaign. This Saturday, 5 April, we host Białe Lwy Gdańsk. Join us at the Bemowo Football Centre. Kickoff is at 18:00.

After a week off from league action, we are back. This Saturday brings another clash within the North group. In the evening, under the floodlights, we take on the side from Gdańsk. After a very good start to the season and a 56:0 win over Dukes Ząbki, we will do everything we can to add another two points and stay top of the table. Our 2025 season opener went better than well. Both units looked excellent, and every player who took the field contributed to that success. Four touchdowns from Bartosz Gnoza, a superb Jake Schimenz and a flawless Filip Twardowski are just a few examples that back that up.

Our next opponents, Białe Lwy Gdańsk, have been familiar with the eleven-a-side game for several years now. After the reform the Polish Football League underwent ahead of the 2025 season, there are teams for whom the full version of the game is something new, but that cannot be said of the Gdańsk side. Last season, playing in PFL2, Białe Lwy finished with a 2-4 record. In the regular season they scored 59 points and conceded 120. That was not enough to reach the semi-finals, with the teams from Olsztyn and Wyszków finishing above them in their group.

They started this season with a heavy 0:47 defeat away in Olsztyn. The game followed a similar pattern to our clash with Dukes. Ambitious as they were, Białe Lwy struggled to get into the opposition end zone and score even a single touchdown. Defensively, they also had problems with coverage in the secondary. Lakers quarterback Artur Paź had no trouble throwing long balls to his receivers, who were getting away from the Białe Lwy defence and running free, scoring touchdown after touchdown with ease.

The Lions have had two weeks to learn from that game and fix their mistakes. The prospect of playing the reigning Polish champions will surely be doubly motivating, and the knowledge and scouting material they could gather from our game against Dukes will certainly help them prepare well for Saturday. It promises to be an interesting game in a special evening setting straight out of the best high school leagues.
